I am holding one of the Barry engine mounts behind the bracket. I haven�t bolted a mount to an engine before, but I can see something isn�t right.

My luck holds true. It turns out Lycoming made two different mounting brackets for the IO-540. If they make two, I invariably have the wrong one. A little research and a talk with Duane Swing confirmed it. There is a different mounting bracket with a smaller hole. Not just a smaller hole, the rake angle is different by 10 degrees. I can�t just get new Barry mounts. The engine mount was made to specifically fit the geometry of the small hole brackets. Looks like I�m not done hunting down parts for my engine. :(
